【海底總動員】以 8 億 6400 萬美金的票房締造了皮克斯片廠全球最賣座動畫片的成就，影片榮獲 2004 年奧斯卡最佳動畫片。劇情描述小丑魚尼莫流落到雪梨一家牙醫診所的水族箱，尼莫的父親馬林在倒吊魚朵莉與眾多海洋生物的協助下展開尋子行動。
音樂由出身電影音樂世家的 Thomas Newman / 湯瑪斯紐曼擔任創作，湯瑪斯的老爸是創作福斯電影公司片頭音樂的傳奇影音巨擘 Alfred Newman，堂兄是以「怪獸電力公司」獲頒奧斯卡的音樂家 Randy Newman。湯瑪斯的音樂生涯中，以「刺激 1995」、「新小婦人」、「非法正義」…等片 10 度入圍奧斯卡原創音樂或歌曲項目，曾經以「美國心玫瑰情」、「瓦力」贏得 2 座葛萊美獎，同時以「六呎風雲」拿下艾美獎最佳電視影集主題音樂獎，近作包括「真愛旅程」、「身為人母」。湯瑪斯在本片中，運用輕盈的琴音樂聲搭配有點古靈精趣味的打擊樂節拍，還有別具層次感的木管樂跟有如暖陽一般的動人弦樂，一方面為海洋景致勾勒出近乎新世紀音樂感覺的寫意旋律，同時也為小丑魚父子創作出動人的情境音樂。片尾曲選用英國樂壇天王 Robbie Williams / 羅比威廉斯灌唱的 Bobby Darin 招牌作 "Beyond The Sea"。
