1964 年初正式以 The Who 之名上路，年末與 Decca 唱片公司簽下一紙合約，隔年單曲 "I Can't Explain" 上市，打進英國金榜 Top10 之林，樂隊火爆的現場演出與 Pete 和 Keith 砸毀樂器的瘋狂行徑，成為歌迷津津樂道話題，更成為日後樂團的鮮明印記。"My Generation" 登上亞軍席次，不僅確立 The Who 在樂壇的地位，更成為當世代年輕族群的國歌。1969 年出版概念專輯【Tommy】，成為史上第一張成功的搖滾音樂劇專輯，同時風光打開美國市場。1971 年的【Who's Next】分別站上 VH1 以及滾石雜誌「史上最佳專輯」第 13 與第 28 名位置，吉他世界雜誌更評選為「經典搖滾專輯」季軍，AMG 與滾石雜誌全獻上五星滿分讚譽。接著 1972-1982 整個十年間，雖然 1978 年 Keith Moon 因吸毒過量去世，帶給樂團很大衝擊，The Who 仍然是樂迷心目中的頂尖樂團。
這張於 1967 年首度發表的專輯【The Who Sell Out】，成為滾石雜誌「史上五百張經典專輯」第 113 名，登記美國 Top48 + 英國 Top13 位置。相隔 42 年發行的豪華紀念版本，除了收錄原始曲目外，更珍貴貢獻多首早期 DEMO、混音、首度曝光等超過 50 首歌曲，增添其收藏的價值。
