'94年成軍於北卡羅萊納州的另類鄉村名團 Whiskeytown / 威士忌小鎮合唱團，由後來四度贏得葛萊美獎提名的創作才子 Ryan Adams 邀集小提琴手 Caitlin Cary、吉他手 Phil Wandscher、貝斯手 Jeff Rice、鼓手 Steven Terry 聯手組成，'96 年於獨立廠牌發行的【Faithless Street】專輯後吸引了主流大廠 Geffen 的重視而簽入旗下，隔年隨即推出這張榮獲滾石雜誌四顆星好評的【Strangers Almanac / 陌生人年鑑】！
在這張優質佳作問世十年後的今天，環球音樂特地推出雙 CD 豪華加值版，CD1 除了完整保留 "Yesterday’s News"、"16 Days"、"Dancing With The Women At The Bar"…等 13 首原始曲目，還加收 5 首電台現場演唱實況錄音；而 CD2 中的 19 首歌曲中，有 17 首是首度曝光、專輯前置作業時期的稀有錄音。人事問題的紛擾讓 Whiskeytown 傳世的作品不多，【Strangers Almanac】因此更顯得彌足珍貴，而專輯中一首首引人入勝的情緒佳釀，讓人輕易理解他們為什麼被讚譽為另類鄉村樂壇的最愛樂團之一！
